pounds and, more importantly, inches. But I was still disappointed. I had put in all that effort and was still basically dealing with the same body image problems I always had. So what was the problem? I tried everything out there, thinking it was going to be the ticket to my success, which I measured by the size of my rear end. As years went by and I decided to try another Beachbody
program, Chalean Extreme, I was starting to realize that all of that hard work wasn't for nothing. Even if I didn't think I was seeing enough results, I was still making a huge impact on my health. I started to look past the short term desire to have that "perfect" body and instead started realizing what my strong little self was actually capable of. I was not know for my consistency with the whole health and fitness thing, so obviously my dear husband was not thrilled to see yet another box come in the mail. But I promised myself that this time was different. I set my sights on becoming healthy and fit and not "perfect." I not only finished the entire 12 weeks with Chalene, but continued to do it for another year! My hubby actually admitted he was impressed and wouldn't say another word on the subject! (That was a victory in and of itself!) I did get amazing results from the first 12 weeks and kept up the progress I had made throughout the next year. I even did my first 5k as a result offeeling the impact that consistency in my fitness could have. I know, you're thinking a 5k doesn't
seem like much, but I have never been a runner and couldn't even complete the mile in high school....in my prime as a volleyball player. I felt so empowered. I started incorporating the concept of clean eating (by the way, you do get much better results with the programs if you follow their meal plans, who knew) and it started becoming second nature. I was feeling better, had more energy and was a much happier person. Just ask my family. They can tell when I am exercising regularly by my moods. I proved that when, right in the middle of what I would call the fittest I have ever been, I was abruptly derailed. During the first 5 minutes of a church softball game I was hit in the back of the head with a line drive thrown from the outfield. Yes, a concussion was my reward. I was told to sit out of any physical activities for 6 weeks! You know what the first thing I thought of was, I can't workout and I have just started seeing the results I have been wanting my whole life! In the middle of the 6 week recovery we sold our house that we had built ourselves and lived in for the past 14 years and moved in with my in-laws until we could find a new one. Needless to say, those 6 weeks of recovery turned into over a
I wake up each day, earlier than I ever have, ready to hit the ground running. I know which workout is scheduled and I know what kind of food I need to be eating to be the healthy and fit wife, mother, daughter, friend and coach that I need to be. I love getting to share my journey with others in hopes that even one person will be inspired or cheered on to keep going, or to start for that matter. It isn't necessarily about what you can or cannot accomplish in a week or two or twelve. It is about bettering yourself and seeing the value in what you are doing even when the numbers on the scale or the tape measure don't tell you what you want to hear. It is true that it didn't take 1 week to put it on, so it won't come off in 1 week either. Just think of that 1 or 2 pounds that you lost and were disappointed that it wasn't more. But, where will you be 6 months from now...a year from now... if you keep that up? Give yourself time, celebrate even the smallest progress. It is a success that even if you only workout for 10 or 20 minutes that is more than you did yesterday when you were sitting on the couch. I have learned to see the big picture and the value in my health. Becoming a Beachbody Coach had just propelled me further into my success with my
goals. Keeping myself accountable to those that are watching is just as important to me as reaching out to help those same people. So when will you start to see the big picture and start measuring your success in the little decisions that you made right today. Skipping the doughnuts in the breakroom, not eating your kids leftover fries, opting for water instead of reaching for another soda. Those are the small decisions that we can make everyday, but over time and with consistency, those little decisions add up to big success! Let me walk beside you in your journey and celebrate your success with you. Join a challenge group, because TOGETHER WE ARE BETTER!
